The Piedmont Azalea puts on an outstanding show in the spring with its fragrant, pinkish, white blossoms which appear before the foliage. Generally known as a Southern Azalea, it is hardly enough to use in a wider landscape area. It adds a pretty splash of color when planted among evergreens and also does well under high trees. It will spread by underground stems to form natural colonies. Tolerates dry conditions better than most native Azaleas. Butterflies and Hummingbirds like it as a source for nectar. The fragrant blossoms are desired for cutting.
