This is a perennial shrub belonging to the Laurel Family and found in the eastern region of North America. Its average height is 6-12 feet and it thrives in damp areas with exposure to full sun or partial shade. In early Spring, small greenish-yellow flowers cluster along its branches before the foliage appears. Keep in mind that male and female flowers are grown on separate plants, so you'll require both for successful pollination. Additionally, the plant's leaves serve as a food source for the Swallowtail Butterfly's larva.
